Expert Landscape Care in Lost Creek

Lost Creek is one of west Austin’s oldest and most loved neighborhoods. GardenGOAT has been helping homeowners here refresh, rethink, and care for their outdoor spaces for years. Sitting between Loop 360 and Bee Cave Road in the heart of the Hill Country, Lost Creek has rolling hills, big mature trees, and large lots. Good landscape design makes a huge difference here.

Most Lost Creek homes were built in the 1970s and 1980s. That means a lot of yards have old landscaping that has either grown out of control or is worn down from years of Austin heat and drought. Rocky limestone soil runs through all of Lost Creek. Irrigation systems put in when these homes were new often need a full redo to save water. Homes along Lost Creek Boulevard and near Lost Creek Country Club sit on hilly ground with big grade changes. That calls for smart planning around drainage, retaining walls, and usable outdoor space.

Whether you are updating a front yard that has not changed in decades or building a new patio and outdoor kitchen, GardenGOAT brings real know-how about this neighborhood’s land, soil, and big old trees to every project.

About Us

Lost Creek Yards We Are Proud Of

  • Lost Creek’s hilly west Austin land creates problems that most landscapers do not expect. The rocky limestone soil is thin and alkaline. That limits which plants can grow deep roots. Digging for patios, retaining walls, and fence posts is much harder here than in flat parts of Austin. Many Lost Creek yards still have landscaping from the 1970s and 1980s that needs a full update. Think overgrown juniper hedges, crumbling stone borders, and irrigation with broken heads and poor coverage. Drainage is always a worry on sloped lots. Heavy rain can cut channels through yards and pool up against foundations. The thick tree cover is nice in summer, but it makes growing grass tough. Many Lost Creek homeowners are finding that shade-loving groundcovers and perennials work better and need less care than turf.

  • Our Lost Creek projects cover the whole community loop along Lost Creek Boulevard and the nearby streets between Loop 360 (Capital of Texas Highway) and Bee Cave Road. We work near Lost Creek Country Club and the golf course, along the streets off Falcon Head and Ledgeway Drive, and in the areas closest to the Barton Creek Greenbelt access points. We also serve West Lake Hills, Rob Roy, Davenport Ranch, and Rollingwood. We often work on properties along Westlake Drive, near Eanes Elementary and Westlake High School, and in communities closer to the Hill Country Galleria and Bee Cave. Homeowners near Walsh Tarlton Lane and the Loop 360 corridor are well within our reach.

  • Lost Creek was mostly built in the 1970s and 1980s. The mature landscaping is one of the things that makes it special. Big live oaks, Spanish oaks, and cedar elms form a thick canopy. It gives the area a private, wooded feel that is rare in suburban Austin. Many homes sit on half an acre or more. That gives you plenty of room for outdoor living, but it also means more upkeep and careful planning for updates. The neighborhood is in the Eanes ISD school district. Property values are high, and homeowners here put real money into their yards. You will find a mix of original homes with older landscaping and fully updated homes that need brand-new designs. Irrigation in Lost Creek has to work around the rocky soil and the different growing conditions caused by heavy shade, steep slopes, and changing sun across a single lot. The Barton Creek Greenbelt is close by, so deer and other wildlife often visit yards. That means plant choices need to hold up to animals nibbling on them.
